on the wedding day

WHAT DO BRIDES FORGET

No matter how organised you are, wedding mornings have a way of making even the most on-it bride forget something. And while you’ll definitely remember your dress and your vows, it’s often the little things that trip people up. Here’s a handy list of the bits that have been left behind before - and the kind of things I quietly bring along to save the day.

Snacks & Water

Adrenaline = forgotten breakfast. Pack a few easy bits (granola bars, fruit, pastries) and keep a bottle of water nearby. You’ll feel better if you’ve eaten something.

A Phone Charger or Three

Your phone works overtime on a wedding morning, especially if suppliers are calling or guests need directions. A charger or power bank is a game-changer. Bonus points if someone’s in charge of keeping it out of your hands.

A Speaker for Music

Whether it’s chill acoustic or full pre-party vibes, music sets the tone. No one wants to get ready in silence, and you might be surprised how many people forget to pack one.

Tissues

Someone will cry. Probably more than once. Whether it’s you, your mum or your best friend reading a card out loud - tissues (and cotton buds) are always handy.

A Steamer

Robes and bridesmaid dresses crease like nobody’s business. You’ll thank yourself later if someone remembers to pack the steamer. I’ve definitely borrowed hotel kettles before, but let’s not rely on that.

White Gloves & Crochet Hooks

Not the most glamorous things, but so useful. Gloves keep your dress clean when handling it, and a crochet hook makes buttons a breeze (especially if they’re tiny and fiddly). Trust me - your mum will thank you.

Spare Shoes for the Evening

After a full day in heels? Enough said. Even if you think you’ll manage, your feet might have other ideas.

Scissors & Safety Pins

Tags, threads, broken straps - they’ve all made an appearance. I carry these in my kit, just in case.

Perfume

Surprisingly easy to forget in the rush. A soft spritz before getting dressed is all you need. Bonus if it’s a new scent, you’ll remember this day every time you wear it.

Mints

For that first kiss as newlyweds. A small touch, but a good one.

PJs That Button Up

Because pulling a t-shirt over your freshly done hair and makeup is not the move. Button-up PJs = comfy and wedding morning approved.

Mini Medical Kit

Blister plasters, tampons, paracetamol, antihistamines, plasters, rehydration sachets - they’ve all been needed, and often forgotten. A tiny kit with just the basics can be a lifesaver.

In Summary

You don’t need to remember everything. But a few clever additions (snacks, mints, a speaker, spare shoes) can turn a good morning into a smooth one. And if I’m your makeup artist? Just know - I’m probably carrying most of this already.
